Elections!!!

Once again, it is time to start thinking about who will be taking over the running of Warwick Mountains next year. We'll be holding elections Thursday week 9 (that's the 8th March) in the Roots bar at 7pm.

The exec currently consists of 8 positions, listed below with descriptions of what the job involves. In addition to their usual duties, every exec member except the tour officer and social sec organises one weekend trip. We aim to have one person filling every role, except social sec where if possible we will have two.

Elections work on a very simple system: you nominate yourself for as many positions as you like, then everyone going for a particular position, as well as everyone who has previously held that role, takes part in a challenge which is (extremely loosely) related to the position. Before this puts anyone off, these are silly and fun but not in any way humiliating and you won't have to drink alcohol if you don't want to. Then all the candidates leave the room and I'll make everyone shut their eyes and vote for the person they want by raising hands. To nominate yourself reply to this email (preferably) or you can stand on the day.

Elections also double as our AGM, which means this is your opportunity to raise any issues or questions you have about the club and how it is run.

I'd really encourage everyone who will be involved with the club next year to run for some position on the exec, as without an exec the club just couldn't run and then no-one would be able to go on our awesome trips. We're one of the biggest and most active sports clubs in Warwick, so lets make sure that continues next year! Perks of being on the exec (apart from obviously being one of the coolest kids in town) include pre sign up for trips (no more early mornings!). It's also really good experience which you'll be grateful for when you start filling in pesky job applications. Being on the exec generally doesn't require a huge time commitment so don't be put off by that.

Even if you don't plan to run anything, please do come along to elections - it'll be entertaining and enjoyable, we'll probably go out for a drink or food afterwards and you get to have a say in who runs the club.

James (President – but not for much longer)
